Waste Case Study No.1 — Rare Device

001

WELCOME FRIENDS  —  To the first in our series of Waste Case Studies.

You may or may not know that AWE also operates as a wholesaler, providing vintage blanks at scale to a wide range of customers.

We’re fortunate to work with some of the most innovative, forward-thinking partners across a range of sectors, and we want to show how they use AWE products to express their vision.

This first study is focused on Rare Device.

003

Established in 2005, Rare Device is a San Francisco, artist-focused gift store and gallery. Featuring a (very) well-curated selection of design items, we were psyched when they reached out to AWE for a capsule of Faded Brown crewnecks.

When AWE products are merchandised, the diversity of color, fabric weight, and construction becomes the defining feature.

Rather than selecting a single “correct” version, customers encounter a field of options where each garment is distinct, each equally valid.

This system restores a sense of authorship often lost in uniform, newly manufactured products.
